Using Data Explorer to Gain Interactive Insights Into Your IT Environment
IT Visibility is being upgraded with the introduction of Technology Intelligence Platform beginning in September 2024. Flexera will contact you directly regarding the timeframe of your upgrade. With Technology Intelligence Platform, out-of-the-box IT Visibility dashboards are being replaced with new, enhanced IT Visibility Technology Intelligence Platform reports. Your current custom and out-of-the-box dashboards will remain available for 6 weeks after your organization has been upgraded to Technology Intelligence Platform. During this time frame, you will be able to recreate your custom views in the new reporting capability. At the end of this time frame, access to all previous IT Visibility dashboarding capabilities will be removed.
IT Visibility includes a business intelligence engine, Data Explorer, that guides you to further insights and areas of opportunity through its interactive, customizable dashboard tools and best practice recommendations. Data Explorer provides the functionality to utilize the IT Visibility dashboards. For additional information about IT Visibility dashboards, see Managing IT Visibility Dashboards .
The following sections help you access and use Data Explorer.
If you have both IT Visibility and IT Asset Management, only hardware devices with an Active status are included in the IT Visibility export. Ignored and other inactive devices are excluded, and software on these devices is also excluded.
Data Explorer Dashboard Row Limitation
When creating custom dashboards in Data Explorer, there is a current limit of 60,000 rows allowed per dashboard.
Accessing Data Explorer
No matter what IT Visibility dashboard you are currently in, there is a tab or link to Data Explorer.
To view Data Explorer:
- Navigate to IT Visibility > Dashboard.
- From any IT Visibility dashboard, click the Data Explorer link (tab).
Using Data Explorer to Create and Customize Insights
Data Explorer is a powerful environment for data discovery and customization within its responsive user interface. Navigate to IT Visibility > Dashboard and click the Data Explorer tab to view IT Visibility’s Data Explorer.
In Data Explorer, you can drag measures and attributes to interactive zones to:

Visualize self-service data analytics

Customize data visualizations

Create insights (charts, graphs, and tables)

Change the way data is visualized

Create guided navigation
With Data Explorer, insights change dynamically with each click, enabling you to really dig into your data on the way to new and import discoveries. Data Explorer also recommends best practices and next steps.
