April 2022
Flexera One introduced the following new features and enhancements this month.
Administration
Flexera One added the following new Administration feature in April 2022.
New Group Management page provides improved user experience
This feature is available with Administration.
We are pleased to announce the new Administration Group Management page (Administration >Identity Management > Group Management) that offers improved user experience. Prior to the release, this page existed under Administration > Identity Management > Groups. Flexera One users with roles Administer organization and Manage organization roles (commonly referred to as Org owners).
The Group Management page provides the following benefits:
- New Accordion Component —A new accordion component is being used in the Group Management Roles tab. By default, the accordions are expanded so all roles are visible to the user but can be minimized as desired.
- Collapsible Role Groups —Users can collapse role groups to save screen real estate and focus on role assignment for specific capabilities.
- Roles Tab Updated with Accordion Component —The Roles tab within the User Management page (under Administration > Identity Management > User Management) is also updated to use the new accordion component for a consistency across the Identity Management section in Flexera One.
- Multi-Selection for Adding/Removing Users from Groups —Users are now added and removed from a group using multi-selection within a table. This adheres to our consistent look and feel in Flexera One.
Group Management-specific documentation found in Creating and Managing User Groups page
The Administration Access Management section of the Flexera One documentation provides access management capabilities, enabling you to manage users, user groups, accounts, and roles across all Flexera One Organizations.
SaaS Management
SaaS Management added the following new features and enhancement in April 2022.
New Microsoft 365 integration solves the hybrid challenge
This feature is available with SaaS Management.
SaaS Management’s new Microsoft 365 integration creates a single connection to your Microsoft 365 subscription that includes Office 365, Dynamics 365, Power BI, Project, Visio, and any future applications added by Microsoft.
Flexera recommends creating the new Microsoft 365 integration to view your organization’s Office 365, Dynamics 365, Power BI, Project, and Visio license usage data. Any existing Office 365, Dynamics 365, Power BI, Project, and Visio integrations in SaaS Management will be superseded by this new Microsoft 365 integration. To deactivate an existing integration, refer to the Integrating Microsoft 365 Licenses from SaaS Management to IT Asset Management section of the Microsoft 365 and Microsoft 365 Client Credentials integration instructions.
The Microsoft 365 Client Credentials integration uses the more secure authentication method OAuth2 with Client Credentials.
Microsoft 365 integration features
As with the existing Office 365 integration with SaaS Management, this new Microsoft 365 integration includes information relating to users, activity, license information, and license differentiation. The following new features help you further manage your organization’s Microsoft 365 subscription.
Filtering Microsoft 365 users by UPN (User Principal Name)
The Microsoft 365 Users tab includes a UPN column for filtering users.
Viewing your organization’s hybrid Microsoft 365 position
The top of the Microsoft 365 Overview tab includes the View the hybrid Microsoft 365 position link to open Flexera’s IT Asset Management License Summary page. Then filter the Publisher name by Microsoft. Together, Flexera’s SaaS Management and IT Asset Management applications provide a complete view of your organization’s hybrid (online and traditional desktop) Microsoft product usage.
Integrating Microsoft 365 Licenses from SaaS Management to IT Asset Management
To import the Microsoft 365 licenses from Flexera One to Flexera’s IT Asset Management All Licenses page, which feeds to the License Summary page, ensure the Flexera SaaS Manager integration is enabled in the IT Asset Management Integrations tab. For details, refer to the IT Asset Management Settings: Integrations Tab section of the IT Asset Management documentation.
To integrate Microsoft 365 licenses from Flexera’s SaaS Management to IT Asset Management:
-
In Flexera One, disable the existing separate Office 365, Project, Visio, or Dynamics 365 integrations to delete the license information. To disable the integration, navigate to the managed SaaS application’s Overview tab. On the upper-right side of the Overview tab, click the Application Details link to open the Application Details window. In the Application Details window, click Deactivate.
-
When the Flexera SaaS Manager integration is enabled in the IT Asset Management settings, the Import Inventory job is executed overnight.
-
After the Import Inventory job is executed the next day, delete the Microsoft licenses now marked as “Retired” in IT Asset Management.
noteAny purchases managed in IT Asset Management and associated to the now retired/deleted licenses will return back to an “Unprocessed purchase”.
tipTo avoid confusion and potential license duplication, Flexera recommends that any licenses created in IT Asset Management for Project / Visio / Dynamics 365 be deleted as the new Flexera One Microsoft 365 integration also creates these licenses with imported entitlement and consumption.
-
Set up the Microsoft 365 integration in SaaS Management per Integrating Microsoft 365 with SaaS Management.
-
After the Import Inventory job is executed in IT Asset Management the next day, the
Flexera SaaS Managerintegration creates all the Microsoft 365 licenses with purchase counts and consumption counts.
Managing available Microsoft 365 licenses
Once the License Information integration task for Auto-Populated Microsoft License Information is enabled within SaaS Management, you can add or remove the Microsoft 365 product licenses you wish to manage from your Microsoft portal. The Microsoft 365 Licenses tab includes a Manage Available Licenses slideout for selecting licenses.

Slack (for Enterprise Grid) activity tracking
This feature is available with SaaS Management.
Previously in SaaS Management, insight into user activity within Slack (for Enterprise Grid) was limited to user logins. Through a new API, SaaS Management pulls in the analytics data for when Slack users were last active posting a message or reading at least one Slack channel or direct message. Software Asset Managers now have the required insights for tracking interactive user activity within Slack and enabling accurate right-sizing decisions.
Actions required for New SaaS Management integrations with Slack (for Enterprise Grid)
You must grant permissions for Slack (for Enterprise Grid) as detailed in the Slack (for Enterprise Grid) integration instructions.
User activity tracking is provided through the following API endpoint.
Application Access API endpoint
https://slack.com/api/admin.analytics.getFile
Actions required for existing SaaS Management integrations with Slack (for Enterprise Grid)
You must reauthorize the integration using the new admin.analytics:read scope, which replaced the auditlogs:read scope. The admin.analytics:read scope is required to view analytics information about members of enterprise grid workspaces. For details, refer to Slack’s admin.analytics:read documentation.
Org owner permission is required to grant Slack (for Enterprise Grid) scopes during the Integration authorize flow documented in the Slack (for Enterprise Grid) integration instructions. The app requesting this scope must be installed by an Org Owner of an Enterprise Grid organization. In addition, the app must be installed on the entire org, not on an individual workspace. For details, refer to Slack’s admin.analytics:read documentation.
