Cloud Cost Optimization Azure Enterprise Agreement (legacy) Bill Connect migration

note

This enhancement is available with Cloud Cost Optimization.

Microsoft is deprecating the legacy Azure Enterprise Agreement (EA) APIs on May 1, 2024. Using these APIs, the Azure EA cost and usage details are imported into Cloud Cost Optimization. Your account manager will work with you to migrate to the new Azure Cost Management APIs to maintain your Azure cost reporting in Cloud Cost Optimization and ensure a seamless transition.

As Microsoft has introduced the new Azure Cost Management APIs and is deprecating the Azure EA APIs, you must migrate to the new Azure Cost Management APIs to maintain your Azure cost reporting in Cloud Cost Optimization. For more information, see Microsoft Azure Enterprise Agreement (Legacy).

This enhancement enables you to see costs and usage and also shows parity with the Azure Cost Management Dashboard.

You can now create an Azure Bill Connect, using one of the following options:

  • Azure Cost Management APIs—Use this option, if your annual cloud spend is no more than $30 million USD.
  • Exports—Use this option, if your annual cloud spending is more than $30 million USD.

FinOps Bill Connect API

note

This feature is available with the Flexera One API.

A new FinOps Bill Connect API is introduced to ingest the cloud spend into Cloud Cost Optimization. This new API replaces the legacy Bill Connect API.

info

The legacy Bill Connect API is no longer being updated so you must migrate to the new FinOps Bill Connect API.

With the introduction of the FinOps Bill Connect API, consider the following changes:

  • The API host name is changed to the following based on the server location of your account:
    • api.flexera.com
    • api.flexera.eu
    • api.flexera.au
  • The API resource path is changed to /finops-onboarding.
  • The session name is changed to flexera-finops.
  • The events such as create, read, update, and delete are recorded in the Flexera Events API for auditing of changes to the bill connections.
  • The supported cloud vendors are AWS, Google, and Azure Enterprise Agreement (Legacy). Common Bill Ingestion (CBI) is also supported.
    note

This feature will be implemented for Azure MCA and Azure Modern Commerce Agreement CSP in future releases.

New capabilities and enhancements in Cloud Cost Optimization dashboards and billing centers

note

These features and enhancements are available with Cloud Cost Optimization.

Flexera One has released significant enhancements to Cloud Cost Optimization dashboards and billing centers to improve the usability and functionality for viewing and analyzing cloud spend.

New capabilities

The Cloud Cost Optimization dashboards and billing centers contain the following new capabilities:

  • Added the Rate Reduction Savings dashboard to show savings from rate reduction optimization. To see the different values with the spend, you can use the following new metrics: List Price, Savings, and Savings Percent. These metrics show details on the savings and savings percentage for commitment purchases such as Savings Plans and Reserved Instances.
    note

The new metrics are only available for AWS. This feature will be implemented for other vendors in future releases.

  • Added the ability for the Billing Center users to see their potential savings from recommendations in the Billing Center.
  • Added the ability for the dashboard designers to create and maintain a single dashboard at the Organization level that is also available at the Billing Center level. This feature enables the designers to create one dashboard that can be viewed and maintained at the organization level.
note

As part of these changes, the Billing Center Tabular View has moved from the root Billing Centers page (Cloud > Cost Optimization > Billing Centers) to the main Cloud menu as a separate submenu item Tabular View (Cloud > Cost Optimization > Tabular View). The Tabular View remains on both the parent and child billing centers. For more information, see Tabular View in the Flexera One Help.

Enhancements to existing functionality

The Cloud Cost Optimization dashboards have the following enhancements:

  • Improved user interface to align with rest of Flexera One.
  • Renamed dashboard reports to widgets.
  • Improved dashboard layout editor —You can now place the dashboard widgets anywhere within the dashboard to visualize and analyze your cloud spend.
  • Added the View Anomalies link —You can now identify significant changes in your cloud spend and take necessary actions to keep your costs under control from the Dashboard Table View.
  • Added the copy dashboard link —You can now share a direct link to your dashboard with other users by clicking the copy dashboard link. The dashboard link is copied to your clipboard and you can now paste it into an email, a text message, or anywhere else where you would like to paste the link.
  • Improved usability of the dashboard filter widget —You can now scale down the data to your exact specifications.
note

As part of these changes, the option to view the AWS Blended costs has been removed from the dashboards and the Tabular View.

IT Asset Management

IT Asset Management released the following new feature and enhancements in September 2023.

New Active Directory reporting object

note

This feature is available with IT Asset Management.

Custom reports can now include a new AD Group object. The AD Group object is extremely useful, as it allows you to report on users and their corresponding AD Groups, letting you see the applications that users are permitted to access by way of AD Groups.

note

An Active Directory group is a group of users that have been given access to certain resources. Administrators can give access and permissions to a group rather than assigning rights individually to each member of the group. Details of AD groups are imported by means of the out of the box Active Directory import (generally triggered once a day from the Beacon).

When creating the report in the Report Builder, reports can start from the AD Group object and link to the User object, similarly, reports starting from the User object can be linked to the AD Group object. As the number of AD groups is typically high, it's recommended to apply a filter when creating the report. For example, the combination of AD groups and users can quickly surpass one million.

Creating a report with an AD Group object and applying the intelligent license restriction, allows you to influence the scope of license coverage in a more automated way. For example, you can create a Microsoft CAL license report to count all users from a specific AD Group, meaning the license can consume based on user application assignments, rather than recognizing applications on devices.

For more information on how to create a custom report, see Creating a Custom Report.

Support for BMC Helix Discovery

note

This enhancement is available with IT Asset Management.

IT Asset Management now supports the latest SaaS-based product offering from BMC - BMC Helix Discovery.

BMC Helix Discovery is a cloud-native discovery and dependency modeling system that provides instant visibility into hardware and software.

The BMC Helix Discovery adapter works in complete parity with BMC Helix Discovery and older On-Prem technology offered by BMC. No additional setup or configuration is required for BMC Helix Discovery cloud integration.

For more information, see BMC Helix Discovery Adapter in the IT Asset Management Inventory Adapters and Connectors Reference.

Changes to compatibility with other products

note

This enhancement is available with IT Asset Management.

The following product versions have been added to the compatibility list of IT Asset Management with other products:

  • CyberArk 13.0
  • IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) or HCL BigFix Inventory on Microsoft SQL Server 9.2.32

For the full lists, see Compatibility with Other Products in System Requirements and Compatibility.

IT Visibility

IT Visibility added the following new features in September 2023.

New Hardware Evidence page

note

This feature is available with IT Visibility.

The new IT Visibility Hardware Evidence page (Inventory > IT Visibility Devices > Hardware Evidence) enables you to see all your discovered hardware evidence, including last inventory source and date with match counts overall. This evidence is aligned with normalized results where applicable.

For more information, see the Identifying Hardware Using Evidence topic in the Flexera One Help.

Configuring the Private Catalog for software

note

This feature is available with IT Visibility.

It is important for customers to see and manage software that is not part of the global Technopedia catalogue; for example, in-house software, custom third-party software, and software that is inappropriate or of too low priority to be included in the global Technopedia catalog. Previously, customers were not able to configure these types of software in Flexera One.

Now, IT Visibility provides the new functionality to configure software in the Private Catalog. You are able to:

  • Create new releases in your Private Catalog with custom-defined information such as manufacturer, product, version, edition, and so on.
  • Map your software evidence to your Private Catalog.
  • Check whether the evidence is mapped to the global Technopedia catalog or your Private Catalog.
  • Modify the mapping between evidence and linked releases.
  • Remove the mapping to the Private Catalog and recover the mapping to the global Technopedia catalog.

For more information about using this new functionality, see Working With the Private Catalog.

Viewing discovered software evidence details

note

This feature is available with IT Visibility.

Previously, IT Visibility users were able to see all the discovered software evidence with overall m atch counts, aligned with normalized results where applicable, on the IT Visibility Software Evidence page (Applications & Evidence > IT Visibility Software > IT Visibility Software Evidence). However, users were not able to see the additional details of the discovered software evidence.

Now, the IT Visibility Software Evidence page also provides evidence details for the discovered software. You can click any evidence displayed on the page to view additional evidence details, such as type, data source, last found date, and so on. These details can help you better understand the link between evidence and normalization results.

For more information about the IT Visibility Software Evidence page, see Identifying Applications Using Evidence.

Mapping ServiceNow role types to identify potential cost savings

note

This enhancement is available with SaaS Management.

By default, ServiceNow offers out-of-the-box (OOB) roles that are linked to subscriptions. Additionally, you can create a custom role for a subscription to grant access to approve requests or allowing a user to edit, create, or delete a record. Within the SaaS Management Users tab (SaaS > Managed SaaS Applications > Users) for ServiceNow Licensing and ServiceNow Licensing OAuth2, you can now map the ServiceNow Role Types to the number of OOB Roles and Custom Roles for each account user. Clicking a user’s Email in the Users tab opens a slideout to display the user’s assigned OOB Roles and Custom Roles. Users identified as being inactive or never active in using their custom roles may provide cost saving opportunities by having their custom roles disabled.

Technopedia

Technopedia released the following enhancements in September 2023.

Hardware specification enrichment data available in Technopedia UI
